Martinsville Indiana's Fall Foliage Festival

The Fall Foliage Festival represents the beauty and bounty of fall.  The crimson, gold, and purple mums that dot the entries of so many homes, the magnificent foliage that explodes in vibrant color each fall from the maples, sweet gums, and the many other trees showing off their splendor, and the colors of the festival itself.

Two of the many events of the Festival are scarecrow contests - business and family divisions.  It's fun to drive around town and see the scarecrows in the yards.  There is also a Children's Live Scarecrow contest on the square on Saturday, October 10th.

While driving in the area be sure and drive around town.   You'll see many beautiful older home from the days of Martinsville's Spa Era.

Both the photography and poetry entries will be on display at the Morgan County Public Library at 110 South Jefferson in Martinsville during the festival.  The Library has a wonderful display area in their stairwell (shown on the right).  The library is one block south of the square.

The First Christian Church, one block south of the square on Main Street, is
the location of the art show and the Art Show Awards Tea.

The recent history of Morgan County is also remembered each fall when the one-room brick Cross School is opened to the public.  It was a public school from 1854 - 1941.  It is located on Voyles Road.

A visit to the Morgan County Fairgrounds on Farmers Day, Thursday, October 7th is a must.  Displays of old crafts and trades such as spinning, quilting, basket weaving, carving, and making apple butter will let you step back in time.

Area school children will visit both Cross School and Farmers' Day.
