Appoints IHSAA Case Review Panel
Dr. Suellen Reed, Superintendent
of Public Instruction, announced the appointment of eight people
to the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Case
Review Panel, meeting the mandate of P.L.15-2000 (text follows),
which becomes effective July 1, 2000 |

2000 -- English/Language Arts Final Now Available
Science
Draft Version Available for Public Comment
Public Law 146-1999 mandates that all Indiana standards documents
be written in grade-by-grade form. Indiana standards documents
must also be written in the same format. The purpose of this
revision is to comply with Public Law 146-1999 as well as to
clarify science standards |

Board Adopts Standards
The Indiana State Board of Education
today adopted Indiana Academic Standards 2000 in English. The
Indiana Academic Standards 2000 in English were ranked recently
by the Fordham Foundation as the best in the nation and by Achieve,
Inc., as among the best in the nation |

Four
New Milken Educators to Be Honored
Four Indiana educators will be honored
with the prestigious Milken Educator Award for their exceptional
contributions to public education at the Milken Family Foundation's
National Education Conference in Los Angeles, June 27-28. They
will each receive $25,000 |

of Education provides to every public school corporation the
opportunity to simulate funding from the Basic Grant for 2001.

School Safety Specialist Academy
The Indiana Department
of Education provides to every public and accredited non-public
school district a certified training program for school safety
specialists. At the conclusion of the 1999-2000 school year,
over 325 school safety specialists will have received certification |
