President's Note

Welcome back to a new exciting school year.  We are not starting out like we all hoped, with new buildings finished and everyone and everything in it’s place, but the glass it half full, not half empty.  We can look forward to finishing the year in new classrooms, hopefully having unpacked and put things away with some sort of method to our madness.  We will be able to someday say, “I remember the year that we moved .....”

We are starting the year under new leadership, both at the central office, as well as many of us, within the classrooms.  Forget the stress of the move, the loss of familiar people and places... and perhaps some of our boxes.   Let’s start off on the right foot and show  the administration and  community what we teachers are made of.  A little stress and uncertainty come with the job. Patience and the ability to quickly adapt are part of our daily routine. Just like the child looking forward to the new box of crayons,  we look forward to our classlist, waiting with anticipation to see which students we were assigned and contemplating what this school year will be like, based on that list  Each fall we come back refreshed, full of new ideas we plan to put in place, things we know are going to make a difference.   Let’s promise that this year we will put aside any differences, realize each others potential, and take advantage of the fact that we are starting over and can  refresh relationships between the educators, administrators and community.

Let’s all talk to one non-member and remind them of all their teacher union does for them.  Recruiting new members is everyone’s responsibilty.  The union is only as strong as it’s membership.  Let’s start this year with MGTA Bulldog Pride!
