Section One - The White House
___ Create a cutaway drawing or 3-D model of the White House.  Label all of the important sections and rooms. http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/whtour/

___ Create a pictorial graph or poster on all of the animals that have lived in or on the White House grounds.  Include numbers and which presidents owned each.
___ Investigate and write a report on the White House and how it has changed over the years since it was first built. Include all additions, remodeling and redecorating.   White House timeline
 ___  Read the above and create a time line instead of a report, listing all of the above.

Section Two - Around Washington, D.C.

___ Choose a Washington attraction or monument and write a one page report about it.  Include such things as  how, why, by whom it was built.  Include a small drawing or picture.

___ Design a 20th century statue, monument or museum in either 3-D or full color detailed drawing.  It should stand for some important aspect of our 20th century art, music, technology, leisure time, transportation or history.

Section Three - Government Agencies
___ Investigate and write a one page report on a section of the government, such as the Department of Defense, the US Treasury, the Congress, the US Postal Service, the Supreme Court or the Office of the Presidency.
___ Make a poster, mobile, map, or collage showing National Parks, or landmarks that are headed by the Department of the Interior.  Include key facts telling what, where, when created, size or other.
___ Learn about the past or present currency (money) used in the United States.  Choose either Past or Present and write a one page report about it.  Include where it is made, how, denominations, materials, changes over the years, etc.                         http://www.usmint.gov/Kids/
    Fundamental Facts about US currency
___ Bring in a coin collection or stamp collection showing unusual US coins or stamps.  Include a brief explanation of each, when they were made, why they are unusual, value, etc.
___ Write a paper titled US Currency in the New Century.  Include any coins or currency that you would pull from circulation and explain why.  Also any new coins or currency that you would like to add, with drawings as well as an explanation of why.

Section Four - American Symbols
