Michigan Shore-to-Shore 250

A Life's Adventure

In August of 2003, we completed the 250 mile Shore to Shore endurance ride, in Michigan.

Jinnifer rode Savage and Robert rode Shark 50 miles a day for 5 straight days across the state of Michigan. From the sunrise over Lake Huron beach to the sunset over Lake Michigan beach. It was beautiful, challenging, and sometimes grueling.

Logistics for moving camp daily, never having a vet check in the same place, and, of course, actually riding brings new meaning to the word 'Endurance'!

In the end it was all worth it..... Especially that Icecream cone we got in the town of Empire! YUMMY! Then it was off to the beach for the offical finish of our 250 mile journey!

Riding thru the town of Oscoda onto the beach, then "trying" to get our horses into the water. (ok, Shark did... but Savage had other plans)

Overlooking the Au Sable river flowing below the trail.

Making a wrong turn and watching the trail get dimmer and dimmer and dimmer and dimmer and ... ..

Seeing the finish line at night. Then realizing, 'now I have to start getting ready for tomorrow'.

Eating massive amounts of sand. How did the cowboys ride drag on cattle drives?

Gaining new respect for the strength, stamina, and heart of our trusty steeds!
